Hot Men, Hot Accents
I have to say; I simply love writing foreign heroes! Yep. Guilty as charged! Ever since I got published, I created heroes from Spain, Brazil, Australia, France, and Argentina. This year, I will add Italian and Irish to the list. Phew.
Maybe I love the international flavor because geographic plurality is part of my life, in some many ways. My BA is in Tourism, and I always enjoyed traveling and getting to know different cultures and people from all sorts of backgrounds. Then, when I graduated, I came to do a trainee program in Texas. Who do I marry? A Swiss man! LOL!
Anyway. Back to heroes ☺ I love to evoke that sensation of listening to a man’s deep drawl even though you are just reading him – and, sadly, not seeing him face to face. The accent is a great tool, and I always do my research to make sure the character’s mannerisms will match his nationality. This is very important, otherwise it won’t have the same effect.
